Sterling Heights, MI – The Chaldean Community Foundation has received a $20,000 grant from the Consumers Energy Foundation to expand its community center, supporting workforce development programs, mental and physical health services, and recreational activities for families.
“The Consumers Energy Foundation is committed to the communities we serve and ensuring that residents are thriving economically,” said Carolyn Bloodworth, secretary/treasurer of the Consumers Energy Foundation. “We are excited to help the Chaldean Community Foundation provide even more important services for community members in Southeast Michigan.”
The grant will support the expansion of a safe, welcoming environment for families. The addition of 19,000 square feet of space will be used for primary and mental health, life skills for the intellectually and developmentally disabled, education, recreation and social activities for all ages.
The Chaldean Community Foundation is a place where employees speak various languages, staff have lived similar immigration experiences, and clients can build a foundation based on education, mutual reliance and employment.
“The facility will include a gymnasium, multi-purpose room, health clinic, assembly areas and offices for staff, volunteers and clients to share. Our physical space, dedicated staff and financial resources represent the strong base we need to effect the personal and family development our agency seeks to achieve,” said Martin Manna, President of the Chaldean Community Foundation.
